Fall Semester: Free online classes coming to UW-Madison

Starting next fall, anyone with an Internet connection will be able to take a few UW-Madison courses — taught exclusively online by high-profile professors — for free.

University officials late Wednesday announced a new partnership that links UW-Madison plus 29 other universities in 13 countries with a private company, Coursera, to launch its first foray into massive open online courses, better known as MOOCs.
