Appleton hired its new police chief late last month without soliciting applications and without receiving any material from the lone candidate considered, The Post-Crescent has found.
In a letter sent to The P-C by Appleton’s Police and Fire Commission in response to an open records request, the independent board said it made no job postings for the top position and “did not solicit nor did it receive any application material from any individual.”
