There use to be an old saying that you should never mess with the ones who buy ink by the barrel. Perhaps that sounded a bit pompous in its time. But surely there should be an ingrained notion today that the press is not the enemy. The press holds a most valued role in our society based on the work they do every day to make sure the workings of our government and those who seek office are better understood by the people. I would hope that Mary Burke will do what it takes to make sure the press are not limited from fulfilling that mission.
