Still wrong

The president of a self-described hunting group claimed last week that his 2005 bear hunting violation was no longer against the law because of a recent change to state statutes.

But it turns out he’s wrong about that, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

Andy Pantzlaff is the president of the United Sportsmen of Wisconsin, a group that has come under scrutiny because of a provision Republicans stuck in the state budget aimed at giving the GOP-aligned group $500,000 in public money. The group won the grant but lost it a week later amid revelations about the group’s political ties and misrepresentations it made about its tax-exempt status.
