Taxpayer-funded legislative aides continue to work at private law offices in capital

Different stories —

Legislative aide Ottman: Ottman said he worked sometimes from Michael Best’s office so he could answer questions lawmakers had about the maps and could print out copies of the maps for them. He declined to say how often he worked from that office.

“I don’t keep track of how much of the time I’m in the (law) office,” Ottman said.

Sen. Fitzgerald: Ottman’s boss, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), gave a different reason, saying Ottman was sometimes working from the law offices because of the litigation.

Fitzgerald said Ottman answered to him, despite the 2010 agreement that said Ottman was to work at the direction of Michael Best.
