[U.S. Attorney James Santelle] confirmed he would review the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death after NAACP President James Hall and a dozen members of the Milwaukee Common Council said a squad video of the death of Williams, 22 – who continually told police he could not breathe for at least 15 minutes before he died – raised serious questions about earlier inquiries that cleared the officers involved of wrongdoing.The video, which shows a suffocating Williams begging for help from the back of a squad car as officers ignore his pleas, was released to the Journal Sentinel last week after 10 months of requests under the state open records law.
