(Frank Lloyd) Wright conceived an elaborate island compound in the middle of the Tigris and dubbed it Edena. Complete with a circular opera house capped by a statue of Aladdin, as well as a three-hundred-foot spiral tower adorned with camels, his design was abandoned as an embarrassment of Western chauvinism.
