Residents aren’t supposed to keep wild deer

But the WI DNR wants to tell them how they can, for a fee:

The DNR’s proposals, detailed in a paper titled “Wild Deer Registration Authorization,” were released Wednesday at the Natural Resources Board meeting in Pembine.

The document makes it clear it is illegal to take a live, free-ranging animal from the wild.

But then it provides a framework under which the public can do so.

The DNR proposals would allow people to capture and keep wild deer if they pay a $175 fine and a $150 annual fee
