Van Hollen fights to delay marriage equality

State Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen sought a halt to gay weddings in Wisconsin in two different federal courts Monday as he attempted to block for now last week’s ruling striking down the state ban on same-sex marriages.

The Republican attorney general filed a petition Monday morning for a stay with the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago to stop county clerks from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
